I am 59 years old. For recreation I ride my bicycle, 600 CBR or skis, it doesn't really matter as long as I'm moving.
I was born and raised in Oregon.
I began making field knives in 1970 upon my arrival in Alaska. I had grown up using knives and with a fascination for historical arms. When I finally made the decision to become a maker I knew that the way to the pieces I hoped to someday make was to first master "fit and finish", the standard of the contemporary hand made knife. I made a lot of hunting knives throughout the 70's with the first concept oriented pieces being done in 1975 and 1976.
From the beginning I have researched and learned on my own. I feel this has allowed me the flexibility to shift my thinking as necessary without any of the conventional limitations of what is "proper" in either design or execution.
For one person to duplicate work that results from the combined efforts of a number of highly skilled people is impossible if trying to stick letter perfect to their processes and time frames, so I have devised a path of my own which allows me to arrive at the same destination by using contemporary techniques..
